Walro Flex, a member of the Intakobusi Holdings Group, is a leader in the field of manufacturing “pigtails” (highly flexible conductors) which are used in the manufacturing of low voltage switchgear and carbon brush assembly on electrical motors. As a South Africa leading independent manufacturer of automotive cable, Walro Flex is also the largest producer of auto wire and battery cable within South Africa. Of note, in order to provide an extended range of cabling for customers, Walro Flex, in 2009 commenced manufacturing of Low Voltage electrical cable.

Walro Flex,previously known as BGG Cable Manufactures (Pty) Ltd. based in Alberton, South Africa, is the leading manufacturer of automotive cables in Southern Africa. Producing amongst other items, cables used in the assembly of automotive wire harnesses.

Walro Flex adheres to the principle of continuous improvement particularly in the areas of quality, productivity, efficiency and customer service.
As a second-tier supplier to the original equipment (OE) market, Walro Flex runs a continuous shift cycle enabling the plant to run 7 days per week, twenty-four hours per day, with a capacity of 40 000km of automotive cable plus 800 000m of battery cable per month.
Each year, in conjunction with our technical partner, specific equipment capability is evaluated and upgraded and/or replaced where appropriate. To date, capital investment during the past decade has been over R50 million. Walro Flex has progressively upgraded its extrusion lines using new Eurocarb cross heads and tooling to ensure state-of-the-art technology.
It is the responsibility of all our personnel to identify problems and areas for continuous improvement, and to propose changes. We commit our resources to ensure that this policy is understood, implemented and maintained, and that all personnel receive adequate training to perform their functions.
- July 1997 – Walro Flex originally attained DIN EN ISO 9002:1994 accreditation from TUV Rheinland.
- March 2000 – upgraded to QS 9000 and VDA 6.1 certification
- February 2002 – upgraded to ISO/TS 16949:1999
- March 2004 – upgraded to ISO/TS 16949:2002
- April 2007 – Recertification to ISO TS16949:2002
- Feb 2010 – Recertification to TS169949:2009
- Sep 2009 – ISO 9001:2008 Certification
- Feb 2018 – Recertification to the requirements of IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 9001:2015
- Feb 2018 – Recertification to the new requirements of ISO 14001:2015
